This is Carl the oyster shucker at the Crescent City Brew House on Decatur in New Orleans. One of my favorite places. Great food, great beer ( obviously! ) and nice people like Carl. Three images I recently painted. The vase and flower image is an original photograph created by Darrell Chitty, The Cotswolds, England. The home is the Butler Greenwood Plantation in St. Francisville, LA and the gent is world famed artist and instructor Jeremy Sutton. Jeremy's image was captured at the Magnolia Cafe, St. Francisville LA.

A real doll

Recently had the pleasure of creating some images with a true doll. Leila is as sweet as she looks. She is wearing a Christening gown fashioned from her grandmother's wedding gown with button's on the back from her great grandmother's wedding gown! Talk about heirloom clothing!!!!

After many requests, Ken Romero Photography is proud to offer to new parents “Watch Me Grow” as a great way to document all the changes in your baby during the first year of life.

With the “Watch Me Grow” program, Ken Romero Photography will reserve four photography sessions exclusively for your child. Sessions at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months will capture all the subtle changes that take place during baby’s first year. One image from each session will be presented as part of a four image 10 x 20 inch mounted print at the end of your baby’s first year. We suggest black & white images for a “timeless” look.

“Watch Me Grow” is available for only $225.00! Pay only $75.00 at baby’s first three sessions, and the fourth session is free!

Approximately 2 weeks after each “Watch Me Grow” session, images will be presented to you for viewing in a fully produced CD with appropriate music. You’ll be able to take this presentation home for your family and friends to see. After viewing the CD you can choose one image for inclusion in the final “Watch Me Grow” 10 x 20 inch print. This CD will expire in 30 days but you will have the option to buy a lifetime-viewing CD and we’ll explain that in a moment.

Couple of scenarios:

You don't feel well.

Went to the tanning bed....for the first time this season....yesterday or today!

If you don't feel well because of a cold, flu or something like "pink eye" you should:

Go to your senior photo session anyway....because touch ups in the computer can fix everything! Yeah right! Some fixes work but cost you more and some yuck looks can't be fixed totally. A side benefit is you might get the photographer sick so he won't be feeling well when you have to pay for a re-shoot! Point is, if you look in the mirror and don't like what you see because you feel poorly....call and reschedule.

Tanning beds are great for the look you might want....but don't start that tan the day before your senior photo session...or that morning! The tan will look great after a few sessions....but that first tanning session will leave you nice pink or worse....red skin! Another thing that cost more to fix in the computer!

Senior picture weather

We've had some beautiful days lately in South Louisiana. These sunny days are ones people look for when shooting personal pictures. However, many of the best Senior pictures are created on cloudy days when professionals can manipulate the light! Of course when you get the glare away from the face you have to carefully place controlled light back on the face to light the eyes.

Even on bright, sunny days great images can be created late in the afternoon up to the moment the sun crashes.

Take a look at my website www.kenromero.com. The outdoor images were taken late in the day on mostly cloudy days.

Try not to force your photographer to create images at the wrong time of day....unless he or she can manipulate the light!
